Her parents are Indo-British with British descent Anthony Mitra and an Irish mother Nora Downey. English actress Guyan Mitra has an older sister and a younger one. Jason Mitra was her father. Her younger brother is an acclaimed journalist for travel and his writings have appeared on Lonely Planet and The Sunday Times.
