She sat in a calm posture in front of the Swedish Parliament, and erected a 'School Strike For Climate' sign and boycotted schools. It was her belief that it would get the politicians' attention and motivate them to act to prevent global warming. Swedish media filmed Thunbergs strike and the word was spread. Following the strike many students across the globe took part in Thunberg's #FridaysforFuture movement. Students took Friday off to demonstrate against climate change. Climate campaigners from around the world coordinated the very first Global Strike for Climate in 2019. It was a massive success; over 1.6 million participants from 125 countries took part
